PERSONAL NOTE The Hesston, Ks tornado marks the first time I ever went out on a chase. I saw this beast near the town of Haven, and literally froze. I had never seen any thing like it in my life at the time. This was a very large F5 tornado. That destroyed the town of Hesston. Then stayed on the ground for more then 200 miles. The only reason there were not more deaths was because of the amount of people that took the storm serious and took shelter.

Near Sedgwick, Ks April 9, 1990. Photos by (Matt Dennis). These are photos from my second ever chase. I had invited my father (Cecil Dennis) to come along with me on this trip. If you look very closely on the right side of the road, there is a house just to the left of the red barn. The day after these photos were take. I took a copy of them to the house to show them. The lady in the house looked like she was going to faint when I showed them to her. Come to find out she was looking out her door, in my direction south and never saw the tornado going north of her house.
